OPPORTUNITIES, CORE COMPETENCIES AND INTERNAL CHALLENGES
OPPORTUNITIES
Several opportunities that Dunia Moja will seek to exploit during the next three years have been identified. They include the following:
- National and international bodies provide an opportunity for leadership, influence in agenda setting and resource allocation. This will allow implementation of commitments on Kenyan's human rights
- Provide an opportunity to move the debate on women's human rights further and to for effective sensitisation on the need to have legal and policy frameworks
- As a common voice for Kenyans, Dunia Moja is in a strategic position to exploit the power of film media to hold the Government responsible for its actions on matters affecting Kenyans
- Video advocacy tool provide effective tools for information access and improved linkages for human rights defenders
- Religion and faith-based organisations provide an opportunity for debate on human rights on the ground
- There is an opportunity to utilize instruments passed at the regional and international levels to bring about and promote peace
- The formation of partnerships around key issues affecting Kenyans
- The demand for continued capacity-building for our different target groups leadership and how they remain connected at all levels
- The sensitisation of men on women′s human rights.
CHALLENGES
Dunia Moja takes cognizance of the following internal challenges that it intends to address to make a difference during the next three years. Efforts will be made to build on existing core competencies outlined below.
- The sustainability gap in terms of finances resources
- Inadequate financial resources and the need to establish an endowment fund and undergo technical capacity building
- Inadequate office space to expand our activities as envisioned in the strategic plan
- To some extent, inadequate capacity for programme/project specialization due to limited financial resources
- The need for a strategy for mentorship with organisations working with young people
- The need to effectively involve 'personalities' as Dunia Moja's Ambassadors
- Inadequate research capacity
- The need to extend student volunteer programme at the Regional Secretariat

- Training and capacity building of community based organizations, faith based organizations and women and youth groups
